On December 21, 2024, Professor Satoshi Tanaka (RARA Fellow) delivered a keynote lecture at the inaugural International Symposium on Frontier Simulation Technologies, an international conference in the field of computer simulation, held in Hangzhou, China. This international conference also served as a celebration of the establishment of the Federation of Asian Simulation Societies (ASIASIM). About 500 people from computer simulation-related societies/organizations, not only from Asian countries such as China, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, and Bangladesh but also from Australia and the European Union, participated in the conference.
Prof. Tanaka’s lecture was on a new technology that utilizes statistical simulation methods for visualization of 3D measurement big data of cultural properties. As this technology is expected to be applied to cultural properties in China going forward, local participants asked many questions with regard to it.
At this international conference, Prof. Tanaka was elected Vice President of the Federation of Asian Simulation Societies (ASIASIM).
