through the creation of advanced research

Ritsumeikan University has formulated a “Challenge Design” under the R2030 Academy Vision “Challenge your mind, Change our future,” which is envisaged by Ritsumeikan Academy.
Ritsumeikan University aims to become a Next-Generation Research-Intensive University that engages in generating social symbiotic values and innovations to resolve social issues common to all humankind.
The Ritsumeikan Advanced Research Academy (RARA) was established with the aim of creating novel research fields that will contribute to future society, as a next-generation research-intensive university.
RARA consists of a group of core researchers expected to take a leadership role in establishing leading advanced research hubs at Ritsumeikan University. The researchers at RARA (known as RARA Fellows) will become the nucleus of the University and will involve other researchers, aiming to conceive, design, and steer advanced research.
RARA also aims to play a role in establishing advanced interdisciplinary research hubs that generate new value through fusion among RARA Fellows as well as collaboration with other universities and research institutions. RARA Fellows strive to realize world-class advanced research hubs by fostering their understanding of each other’s research in different fields and fusing them to create novel research fields and interdisciplinary research areas.
Establishment of advanced research hubs and
generation of symbiotic values
The RARA Colloquium is a forum for RARA Fellows to hone their skills as core researchers to achieve their respective goals. Through active engagement and mutual development, RARA Fellows foster their understanding of different research fields for the creation of novel academic fields and generation of advanced research.
The RARA Commons, in the meantime, focuses on disseminating research results arising from activities at RARA. RARA Fellows act as nodes to further accelerate their research activities by connecting with other researchers and research institutions.

VIEW ALL UPDATES

Visionary
RARA Fellows shall have a profound understanding of the concepts behind the Ritsumeikan Knowledge Nodes (RKN) and RARA, and aspire to be nodes connecting diverse researchers in the course of realizing their goals.
Co-creation
RARA Fellows shall respect diverse values, cultures, and customs and seek to build research partnerships regardless of region or nationality. They shall also demonstrate comprehensive leadership with consideration for others.
Innovation
RARA Fellows shall present a strategy and vision for the implementation of interdisciplinary research that brings together domestic and international researchers with the University as a hub, and create social symbiotic values capable of steering a next-generation research-intensive university.
Reliability
RARA Fellows shall strive to earn extensive trust from the international community as researchers engaged in world-class research and education, and enhance RARA's reputation as an advanced research academy of international standards.
Through RARA's initiatives, Ritsumeikan University will strive to
advance research in unexplored areas, disseminate results
internationally, and impact society by facilitating interdisciplinary
and international connections among top researchers in diverse
fields who are strong individuals and leaders.
