On November 14, 2025, the Association of International Relations, ROC (ROC-IR) held its 2025 Annual Conference at Tunghai University in Taichung. The conference featured the theme “Mercantilism Returns to International Politics: Tariffs, War, AI, and Great Power Competition.”

On the panel concerning Middle Eastern politics, Professor Kota Suechika (RARA Fellow), alongside Professor Dai Yamao of Kyushu University, presented their research findings. Their research employs the latest experimental political science methods to elucidate how armed non-state actors—which significantly influence Middle Eastern political dynamics—are perceived (supported/opposed) by citizens in various countries. This cutting-edge Middle Eastern political research sparked lively discussions with local researchers and experts.
