The research conducted by Professor Satoshi Tanaka (RARA Fellow) and his colleagues was featured in the monthly bulletin of the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery), the world’s largest international academic society in the field of computer science. This study employs AI to achieve 3D reconstruction of the wall relief depicting the “hidden foot” of the Borobudur Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Indonesia, and to visualize the entire interior structure of the temple using see-through views. Among several thousand research presentations at ACM Multimedia 2024, an international conference held in Australia last November, this work was specifically highlighted.
