Professor Eiji Yamasue (RARA Fellow) and his colleagues’ research results have been published in  Resources, Conservation and Recycling.

Given that the shift to next-generation vehicles is anticipated to increase resource use, Prof. Yamasue and his colleagues quantified automotive sector resource use up to 2050 and analyzed the impact of circular economy strategies. Their analytical results indicate that the implementation of circular economy strategies and new technologies could mitigate increased resource use to avoid exceeding the present-day level. In other words, the study showed that transitioning to next-generation vehicles without further increasing resource use is possible with the parallel implementation of appropriate strategies.
