We sometimes gain consistent understanding or experiences through reading that cannot be expressed in language at times. In this paper, the process of constructing such non-verbal yet consistent understanding during reading is described as “purification,” a concept from quantum information processing, and proposed as a new hypothesis, the purification comprehension hypothesis. This is an interdisciplinary study connecting reading theory and quantum cognition.
