The laboratory of Professor Satoshi Tanaka (RARA Fellow) is conducting 3D measurements of Nijo-jo Castle, a World Heritage Site in Kyoto. This is an international collaborative project involving the City of Kyoto, Ritsumeikan University, and Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. of the United States to create a high-resolution, high-quality digital twin of the castle. Ritsumeikan University will take meticulous external measurements of the building while Sony Pictures will be responsible for measurements of internal structures, and the data from both will be combined to create a digital twin content that can be observed from multiple angles.
