Professor Tomoko Hasegawa selected as one of the world’s top “Highly Cited Researchers 2024” in Sciences and Social Sciences for the sixth consecutive year!

Professor Tomoko Hasegawa (RARA Fellow) has been selected as a Highly Cited Researcher 2024 by Clarivate. This is the sixth consecutive year that Prof. Hasegawa has been on the list.
Each researcher on the list has authored multiple Highly Cited Papers which rank in the top 1% by citations for their field(s) and publication year, and has had a significant impact on subsequent research. This time round, 6,636 researchers active in various research fields have been selected. Prof. Hasegawa is in the “Cross-Field Category,” in which researchers are evaluated based on the total number of citations for papers published in multiple fields by a single researcher.
Prof. Hasegawa conducts research related to global environmental issues, primarily climate change, using computer simulation models (so-called integrated assessment models) that integrate energy, economics, agriculture, land use, water use, among others. In particular, she is engaged in forecasting future greenhouse gas emissions, examining reduction measures, and conducting economic analysis of the effects of climate change.
In recognition of her achievements, Prof. Hasegawa has received the Brilliant Female Researchers Award (The Jun Ashida Award), the MEXT Ministerial S&T Award (Research Category), the Special Category Award of the Cabinet Office Women’s Challenge Award, and the Kyoto Prefecture Akebono Award in recent years.
